Coolest Recital Costumes...ever.

Our first real-in-a-theatre recital is a few weeks away, and we're getting excited. When I started looking for costumes, I hit a wall - a flashy sequin and rhinestone covered wall, to be precise. I've always had a problem with overly provocative and tacky costumes for kids, and there was no way I was going to dress our wonderful little ones like this.  Solution: enter Susan Kendal of Pocket Alchemy, choreographer, costume maker and crafter extraordinaire. We dreamed up some Etsy-meets-city-kid costumes that I couldn't be happier with. She's shared some in-process photos on her blog, which I's sharing here.

Felt beginnings...

Love these head bands.

For our tap dance flapper routine.

Crowns for our Carnival of the Animals' Aquarium dance.
